CONVERSATION

M1: Hey Susan, did you see the news last night?

F1: Yeah. What did you think about that power cut?

M1: It must be very difficult for those families. Can you imagine being without power, especially when there are strong winds and you feel so cold?

F1: I know. I’m glad that there haven’t been any problems with the power here! At least there were some aid centers to help people.

M1: That’s good, but I heard that those aid centers are very small, and that only have very basic resources, so they can’t do a lot to help people.

F1: I know that they’re small, but they’re only temporary, aren’t they?

M1: Well, they’re supposed to be, but I saw on the news this morning that many homes are still without power!

F1: Really? That’s awful! I thought everything was fixed last night.

M1: No, they managed to restore power to some homes last night, but a lot are still without power.

F1: That’s too bad. I hope they get their power back soon.

M1: I hope so. Did you see the other story last night? The one about that new medical research?

F1: Yes. That looks very exciting! It’s about time that scientists did more work to reverse how we age.

M1: It’s not really as exciting as you think! It’s just the beginning of new research, and you never know if what they find will be useful, or actually help us to live longer.

F1: I know that it’s not certain, but can you imagine if doctors really could reverse the ageing process?

M1: Really? Would you want that?

F1: Of course! It’d be great to never grow old.

M1: I don’t know. I think growing old is all part of life. We can’t change what we are! If you want to stay young, you should eat healthier food and do more exercise!
