What country does the teacher come from?

CONVERSATION A

M1: So, what do you do?

M2: Last year I decided to make a big change, so I left my job in Canada and came here to teach English.

M1: How long have you been teaching for now?

M2: I’ve been teaching for ten months, and I love it. I’ve taught English and World History in two schools, and everyone’s been very friendly to me.

M1: Has it been difficult for you to adjust to a different culture?

M2: It’s been quite easy, really. I’ve been trying to start work earlier recently, so that’s been a little difficult. I’m not used to getting up at 5am!

Why has working earlier been difficult?

CONVERSATION C

M1: Is this your own clinic?

F2: Yes, I’ve had my own clinic now for about six months. I was working in a different clinic after I graduated, and it was a great learning experience. I really wanted to have my own clinic though, so I saved up and managed to open this place with a friend.

M1: How do you feel about having this clinic?

F1: I’m delighted. This morning I’ve been working on some regular customers, and it’s really good to build up a relationship with them.

M1: Have you had any problems in the clinic?

F1: Well, we haven’t really had any problems. But at the beginning, my friend and I had to think about how to organise our timetables so that the clinic can function efficiently.

M1: What are your plans for the clinic?

What does the student have to prepare today?

CONVERSATION B

M1: Are you very busy today?

F1: Yes, very busy! I’ve got an important presentation to prepare today. The grade for this piece of work is very important.

M1: Have you been studying here for long?

F1: I’ve been living and studying here now since September last year. It’s very hard work, but I’m going to get a really good business qualification at the end of it, so it’ll be worth it.

M1: Have you read a lot for your classes?

F1: Yes, I’ve read many books, but I’ve also found out a lot of information through meeting some very important businesswomen. They’re very inspiring, so I hope that one day I can be like them.
